At Maxine’s Heavenly, we created cookies with simple, pure ingredients, because we believe that food should provide nourishment to your mind and body.
We believe food (including dessert) should be nutrient-rich fuel for your body.
We believe that food could be cooked and baked, not manufactured.
And we believe that we all need to rethink how we treat…our bodies, our food, our lives. We wrote this manifesto to share our beliefs, be transparent about our thoughts, and to underscore the values that we live and bake by.
Rethink How You Treat
Food should add value to your life and body, not just your tastebuds.
Living well isn’t about abandoning the past (like your mom’s home-baked cookies), it’s about progress, and combining what you know and what you love. It’s not about focusing on what you can’t have, but rather celebrating what you get to have when you make the choice to treat your body and the world with love and respect.
We invite you to rethink how you treat – starting with the cookie!
The Chief Health Officer
The best way to do this is to think of yourself as a Chief Health Officer.
Chief Health Officers are real people who want to lead healthy, cruelty free, and environmentally conscious lives.
The operative word being real. Not everyone can spend two hours a day at the gym, have six pack abs, or make three home-cooked, vegan meals a day. And that’s ok. Anyone can be a CHO. It’s not an exclusive club that will rage if you eat fries or skip leg day. It’s about striving for health and happiness through mindful decision-making and lifelong learning. Your main responsibility is rethinking how you treat.
Everyone is at a different spot in their journey, and the path is not linear. Find what works for you. We’re all about celebrating food and enjoying life in the best and healthiest ways possible, and that’s unique for each person.
Our goal is to transform the way people think about healthy living. We want a Chief Health Officer in every family who sees healthy living as an exciting opportunity for progress, and not as a restricting diet. And we want you to know that dessert doesn’t have to be bad for you! To make this happen, we’re committed to:
- Being transparent about our ingredients, processes, and partners
- Staying up to date on nutrition research and sharing that with you
- Creating products that taste great and have great ingredients
- Being inclusive and embracing diversity
- Honoring traditions around food and adapting them to a modern, healthy lifestyle
- Providing information to Chief Health Officers so they can make informed decisions
- Creating a community of inspired and empowered individuals who look to share that inspiration with each other
As a company, we’re starting with cookies, but hope to grow into a line of products that are all focused on clean ingredients and healthy eating. But most importantly, we want to start a movement – a community who reclaim food from manufacturers and rethink how we treat ourselves, animals, and the earth.
There are many ways to become a Chief Health Officer, the easiest of which is to declare yourself one and start being more thoughtful about you eat, move, and live.
We’ll be providing information about our ingredients, nutrition, and recipes to get you started. So keep an eye on our blog.
You can also join our Facebook group. It is a community where you can share your progress, ask questions, and learn more about being a CHO. Join us.
