These cookies are wonderful! I'd bought them as a gluten free option to make a cookie crumb crust for someone but found that I prefer them to regular wheat flour cookies for baking.

Sweetened by Nature™

Having a sweet tooth is natural—the sugar you eat should be natural too!

Our new vegan, gluten free crispy cookies are sweetened naturally with coconut sugar.

Not only is this natural, unrefined sugar more sustainable, it's also delicious. It gives our crispy cookies an caramelized flavor and texture that is similar to brown sugar.

Celebrate your sweet tooth with Maxine's Heavenly cookies. They're sweetened by nature!

FAQs

Are these cookies made with 100% unrefined, natural sugar?

We use coconut sugar to sweeten our crispy cookies. Coconut sugar is an unrefined, lower glycemic sugar that doesn't cause a sugar spike/crash and is as close to the original plant as you can get.

Coconut sugar is like maple syrup, except it comes from a coconut palm tree instead of a maple tree.

Despite its name, it doesn't taste like coconuts at all. It tastes very similar to brown sugar.

Faced with the alternatives of using refined, high glycemic table sugar or alternative sugars that can cause an aftertaste and stomach upset, we felt that using coconut sugar was the most natural way to sweeten our treats.

Please note that our chocolate chunks currently contain organic cane sugar. We have found it challenging to source reasonably priced chocolate chunks without cane sugar, though our team is working diligently on this. In the meantime, we use chocolate chunks with organic cane sugar. While it is refined somewhat, it has not been refined using chemicals or bleaching, which is the top priority for us and the main reason we dislike regular white sugar. All of our non-chocolate flavors are made with fully unrefined sugars.

Are your cookies allergy-friendly?

Our cookies are free from many of the top allergens:

- Milk
- Eggs
- Wheat
- Soy
- Corn
- Fish/Shellfish

Many of our flavors do contain nuts and all flavors are made on shared equipment. Cross-contamination of nuts is possible. You should not eat our cookies if you have a nut allergy.

As for tree nuts, we use coconut in the form of coconut sugar and nectar. While the FDA classifies coconuts as tree nuts, most people who are allergic to tree nuts are able to eat coconut. Please note that coconut sugar and nectar is made from the sap of flower buds from the coconut palm tree, not coconuts themselves.

Are your cookies healthy?

While we use the term "healthy cookies" from time to time, we are aware that health means different things to different people.

In general, we view a healthy cookie to mean one made with nutritious, natural ingredients and without empty calories. We are particularly proud that we have made such delicious cookies from natural sugars. Many cookies that are marketed as healthy are made with highly refined sweeteners like monk fruit, stevia, and erythritol that your body can't digest.

So, yes, we think we are a healthy cookies. What we are not is:

- A weight loss cookie

- A paleo cookie

- A keto cookie

- A low calorie cookie

- A low carb cookie

Those things in and of themselves aren't necessarily healthy.

Are your cookies vegan?

Yes, all of our cookies are vegan.

Our soft-baked cookies are certified vegan through the Vegan Action group.

Our crispy cookies are not yet certified vegan, although we are working on getting them certified in the near future.

We're proud to be a vegan brand. We feel that producing plant-based products is not only better for our bodies, but also better for the environment, and of course cruelty-free!

Are your products gluten free?

Yes, all of our cookies are gluten free.

Our soft-baked cookies are certified gluten free through the Gluten Free Certification Organization.

Our crispy cookies are not yet certified gluten free, although we are working on getting them certified in the near future.

We're excited to be able to offer gluten free cookies that actually taste good! We know that for far too long, Celiacs and others on a gluten-free diet have had to make do with some less-than-delicious products. We work hard to create gluten free baked goods that taste just like homemade.

Please note that our cookies contain oats. While oats are naturally gluten free, some people who are sensitive to gluten are also not able to eat oats.
